Start a Chapter

Why start a SHE chapter?

  • You feel strongly about creating safer spaces in the geek community.
  • You want to see better representation in geek media.
  • You’re passionate about your particular fandom(s) and believe those stories can be used to create positive social change.

What will you gain?

  • Agents of Change Training – As a Chapter Leader, you’ll become an Agent of Change in your community. Through this training, you’ll be equipped to combat the worst villains as you lead your group to create positive social change.
  • Leadership Experience – Agents of Change training will prepare you to become a leader of your chapter and in your community. Taking lessons from the greats (Wonder Woman, Leslie Knope, and Shuri to name a few), you’ll find your activist superpowers and help others do the same.
  • An Alliance of the Greatest Superheroines in the Universe – By becoming part of a SHE Chapter, you’ll be connected to some of the greatest superheroines in the universe all brought together by the power of fandom. This supportive group is a sounding board, source of knowledge, and cheerleader for everything you do as an Agent of Change.

What do you need to start?

  • Co-organizer – You need at least one other dedicated, enthusiastic organizer to help you get started.
  • 5-10 Volunteers – Ask friends, family, co-workers, etc., if they would be willing to help out by planning and hosting events, social media, etc.
  • 4-5 Hours/Week – To get started, you need a few hours per week to start making connections, hosting events, and connecting with the SHE National team.
  • Thumbs Up from SHE National – You’ll also receive a packet on how to get started.
